Hidden Gems and Off the Beaten Track in Orkney

We also love arranging tours for those who want to visit the smaller islands – for example to see the seaweed eating sheep on North Ronaldsay or go on the shortest scheduled flight in the world, between Westray and Papa Westray. Margaret’s home island of Sanday has beautiful beaches and World War II remains.

On Orkney mainland and the linked South Isles of Burray and South Ronaldsay we’re happy to organise –

  • a visit to the mysterious Broch of Gurness, a hidden masterpiece only discovered when a famous local artist’s painting stool sank into a hole.
  • St Margaret’s Hope. Over 700 years ago, the death of a young Scottish Queen, the Maid of Norway, altered the history of the British Isles.
  • The Tomb of the Eagles where you can handle some of the exhibits.
